"Moondoggie"
By, Cheryl Harwell Bailey

The "Moon" belongs to everyone. The best things in life are free.
"Bing Crosby"

When our girls were growing up,
we lived on"Forest Lane,"
 a corner lot, in a sub-division.
It was a track home built in 1971.
We lived there for almost 20 years.

As the girls were growing up,
during nights when the moon was full & bright,
I placed quilts on the grass,
and we laid on our backs watching the moon.

They were happy to stay up late.
We waited for it to get really dark.
Looking at the moon & stars is a "breathtaking
sight to see, and it's free.
Here in the country, sometimes the moon is so bright,
it looks like the lights are on, as it streams
through the open windows.

When I take time to look at the moon,
sometimes I "ponder."
On all, who have gone before,
who looked on this same moon.
My loved ones on the other side
of the country, see this same moon.

 Creature's great & small
 look at the same moon.
The wolf is in such awe,
he must use his voice to "howl."
My half Cherokee Grandma called it
"the blue corn moon."

The past few days,
the moon seems to be shining brighter.
Maybe it's just me, but could it be the
 "Maker of the moon"
is trying to tell us something?.
The "Keeper of the stars"
 sending
"His" love to us all.
Could it be?
