"Cinderella,"
A Bible Story?
Written by
Cheryl Harwell Bailey

Is there anyone who does not love
a rags to riches story?

"Cinderella,"
 has alway's been my favorite.

I am so excited to purchase the Disney
re-release of the classic movie next week.
One for my granddaughter, and one for myself.

From the time I was a little girl,
I connected "Cinderella," with FALL!
 Because of the
 "PUMPKIN!"

I have studied every "Cinderella," book ever written.
I have watched every "Cinderella," movie ever made.
I should be qualified for a doctorate in
"Cinderellaism!"

There are more than 3,000 versions of the
Cinderella story. Every culture has one.
"Tattercoats" in England,
 "Maroukla" in Slavic countries,
and "Yeh Shen" in China.

In 1697 Charles Perrault, wrote the French version.
The title was "Cendrillon" translated "Little Ashes."
In 1729 it was translated into English
 and was pronounced "Cinderella."

None of these stories are, as ancient as
the Old Testament book of "Ruth,"
written about 1000BC.

I believe there are some parallels in the
Book of Ruth and the story of Cinderella.

 Others may not agree,
but I believe this is where some of the “Cinderella”
story may have originated.
