"Southern Sugar Baby"
Watching a documentary on PBS, "The Appalachians," I was somehow touched.
I do cry when I read a sad novel, and recently overcome by tears
watching the movie, "War Horse!" But I never cry viewing a documentary.
It stirred my inner most being, like a great "Pentecostal" church service. I can't tell you why.
Perhaps it verbalized what I love about history.
Almost daily someone will ask me the same question, "Why would a native "Californian" move away from a such a place?" Being asked why, so many times, I want to hold up a sign, explaining the whole story.
I do understand they're curiosity. Are we running away? Are we crazy? What? I"ll tell you a little secret, most of the California "Beach" lovin,' blond surfers; the Clovis, Bakersfield, Redding "cowboy's," the George Clooney "movie stars," are only a few generations away from this "South," this "Appalachia."

Our family helped make California the great place it is, for several generations, and it will always be my home.
I will always love it. I thought I would end my day's, in the place I was born, married, and spent nearly all my life.
But sometimes our plans, are not His plans.
Our ways, are not His ways. His ways are past finding out. We just don't know what will happen next. He does.
My Great Great Great Grandpa, John Harwell is buried in
Georgia, within an hour's drive of our home, here in Tennessee.
My life back home in California was like eating a piece of my "Mama's German Chocolate Cake."
Sweet, rich. delicious!
My life in our new "Southern" home is the
" Coconut Pecan Frosting" on top.
To understand what I'm trying to say,
listen to some good ole' bluegrass music,
and eat a piece of
"My Mama'a Cake!"
