the entire population knows it.

The anticipation builds to a fever pitch, the weeks and days before the official
 "Coronation."

Finally on the appointed day,
 the city explodes with pomp, ceremony, and procession through the streets,
 of the kingdom.

Imagine someone trying to stop it?

They can't!
