Fluffing and Feathering Our Fall Nest
By, Cheryl Harwell Bailey
Bishop Bailey built us
a new and larger fireplace last year.
The heater is off, and the house is toasty cozy!
Love love old movies!
Yes!
"Shall we go outside?"
Sitting on our comfy back porch,
with a fluffy quilt
is sheer perfection in the fall.
I read my Bible,
and sip daddy's truck driver coffee,
from a big chunky mug.
All I hear are the singing birds and quiet.
"And I suppose
the autumn leaves fall in neat little piles?"
"Camelot"
A sparkling sunshine and cider kind of day!
And fried potatoes!
And beans!
My instinct say's "bake bake bake,"
all in the fall!
My logic say's "no no no!"
Slender Randall say's "bake baby bake!"
My kitchen is in full swing!
Homemade
Dark Chocolate Brownies,
Made from scratch "Toll House Cookies,"
Puffy Apple Dumplings,
and Pumpkin Pies.
"Did logic win?"
"What do you think?"
(I had 1 brownie; the best ever I baked.)
So hard to, just say no!
Mama's Mile High Apple Pie
I burned these a bit. I didn't crimp the crust.
But the taste?
Better than the pretty ones!
Poor Cinderella
Blessed Cinderella
Fluffing and designing the shop windows.
Cinderella is coming down this week.
YOU know what that means?
CHRISTMAS XXXOOO WINDOWS!
(Beautiful, but hungry)
But alas, all has not been well in our hamlet!
The same wild creature who murdered
my last treasured hen
"Dolly Bardrock," struck again.
Tragically
Tragically
none, in our neck of the woods, have been spared, though safely fenced and tucked in.
Don't worry, he only wants to scare Mr. Fox away.
(I hope)!
(I hope)!
Suffering with store-bought eggs this time of year is dreadful!
Come Spring I'll be getting more hens.
Hens trained in "Martial Arts."
And a fighting rooster by the name of
"Cluck Norris!"
Wow!
After blistery winds took the leaves,
I can see the creek!
Battening down the hatches!
Real eggs? Next year for sure!
