Flowers in Winter
By, Cheryl Harwell Bailey

Constant dark clouds are all around.
Rain puddling on the muddy ground.
Perhaps if we change our view,
it will change our attitude,
and turn the big sky blue!

I just want
SUNSHINE!
And flowers. I want flowers.

Winter walls really need flowers!
And books.
It may be cloudy,
but our walls are sunny.
I know our home is not "in style,"
but it is cheerful and cozy.

  Winter warm cloths need flowers.
Roses! Mine need roses.

Doggies need flowers in winter.
On the pillow.

And on the sofa.

And on the bed! "The bed?"
"Prissy!"
"Get off the bed this instant!"

I enjoy having the clear
distinction of 4 seasons!
It is a wonderful gift,
I didn't have back home.
But,
with only 12 day's of solid sunshine,
during 3 months of winter,
  well, it's a bummer.
Especially to a southern girl.
Southern California that is!
I need to play me some "Beach Boy's to get through this!

This is a painting from Bakersfield, California.
Bakersfield girls have flowers
 on their cowgirl hats!

I've lived in the majestic state of Tennessee, more than 16 years. I love my new home.
3 out of 4 amazing breathtaking seasons?
Not bad, not bad at all.

 My sweetest grandma,
 in the universe, taught me,
 to brighten my little corner,
 of this great big
wonderful world,
wherever that may be.
She crocheted the above "Sunflowers"
wall hanging. It is more than 100 years old.

Oma's colorful Tiny Kitchen
Germany 1979.
Kendra wants to help wash the dishes!

Our fireplace is warm with the scent of cedar.

The Christmas cactus is full of pink flowers.
(Cactus comes from....back home)

The peony candle is burning.
It smells amazing!
The roses are from my Sugar Baby!
He knows I love flowers in winter,
and sunshine. I love light! candlelight!

Soon, flowers will return.

But today it looks like this!
The Mountain Bluebirds are flying in and out.
 Like myself,
"Mama Mountain Blue Belle,"
is ready for
Spring!
She encouraged me saying,
"Behold the tiny bud on yonder tree!"
"The Groundhog do not ... believe."
